ESL Tutor
ESL Tutors Needed for New Program
Before the end of the summer, 2022, Nueva Vida Presbyterian Church hopes to launch an ESL program specifically geared toward our Spanish-speaking neighbors in the Glencliff neighborhood, not far from the corner of Thompson Lane and I-24.
In addition to formal ESL instructors, we hope to engage tutors who can provide individualized conversational English support, targeted toward each student's particular needs.
Overview: The ESL tutor for Nueva Vida meets one-on-one with a student seeking to learn English to provide individualized support to that student relevant to that their particular context. The ESL tutor serves for a period of three months.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with an ESL student at a time convenient to the both of you in either a public place or online for approximately 1.5 hours a week.
- Utilize the curriculum provided by the leadership of the Nueva Vida ESL program as the basis of your tutoring work.
- Place a priority on helping the student master the parts of the English language most relevant to their life.
- Attend an orientation training for all tutors participating in the program.
- Offer feedback about how this program might be improved.
