Agency Testimonials

Hands On Nashville is ready to connect your agency with the vast volunteer potential of our community. We produce results for your volunteer needs.  Other nonprofits have great things to say about their Hands On Nashville partnership:

“We would not have been able to produce emergency food boxes in this quantity without Hands On Nashville.  Hands On Nashville and its volunteers are remarkable community resources.”

Matthew Bourlakas, Second Harvest’s chief operating officer

“Just wanted you to know that I just received a call from a bi-lingual lady who is going to be a volunteer for us with our Spanish customer service line.  She saw it on your HON Newsletter. Thank you for the opportunity you provide for us (nonprofits) to seek those volunteers that make a difference in our community!”
Books from Birth of Middle Tennessee

“One of our favorite volunteers of all time came to us last spring as a result of your e-newsletter.”

 Hands On Projects

For each Hands On Project, we recruit and train a Project Leader who will attend your project.  Project Leaders are typically volunteers who receive training and information to act as the liaison between Hands On Nashville, your agency, and Hands On volunteers. They monitor volunteer registration and oversee the volunteers on-site during the project.

Projects are typically scheduled on weekends and weekday evenings, making them accessible to working professionals. Hands On Projects can involve activities such as cooking and serving a meal at a local shelter, sorting food and making food bags, and much more. Projects can reoccur weekly or monthly (such as serving meals at a shelter or sorting medical supplies), seasonal (gardening/landscaping projects) or one-time events (charity walks, holiday gift drives, community festivals).

A typical Hands On Project:

·         Is hands on (no office work or babysitting).

·         Occurs weekday evenings, generally after 5:00pm, or during weekends to accommodate busy volunteers.

·         Generally takes place within a one to four hour time period.

·         Is led by a volunteer Project Leader trained by Hands On Nashville.

·         Requires no training of volunteers.

·         Does not require any additional commitment from its volunteers beyond the completion of the project.

Volunteer Classifieds
Volunteer Classifieds allow organizations to list volunteer opportunities that do not fit into the Hands On Projects model in our newsletter and on our website.  Volunteer Classified listings are applicable when:

  • Long term commitments are required.
  • Training is needed.
  • A background check is mandatory.
  • The task must be performed during normal working hours.

Partner Agencies may submit their Volunteer Classified to be posted or a representative from your agency may be trained to use the Hands On administrative website to enable you to post and manage your opportunities.

Hands On Newsletter

Our electronic newsletter – Hands On Call – is sent to our volunteers twice per month. This provides additional marketing opportunities for you to reach 5,500+ potential volunteers. Partner Agencies also receive one in-depth feature in our e-newsletter per year, highlighting your organization’s mission and volunteer opportunities.

Agency Wish List
In addition to your volunteer needs, agencies have specific requests for their programs. HON provides another outlet to list your agency’s specific requirements for hard goods, whether it is materials you seek for year-round programs or special items utilized during holidays. Provide us with your wish list and we will post it for you on our website.
